Wood Island Life Saving Station, before and after restoration

  • After nearly 60 years of neglect, the Wood Island Life Saving Station in Kittery Pt. Maine was threatened by demolition

  • A group of citizens encouraged Kittery to seek partners to help prevent the loss of this rare building

  • Phase I included removing hazardous materials (asbestos, bird guano, lead paint) and repair the internal structure as well as much of the exterior including an all new roof. 

  • The building was  sealed up and wrapped in Tyvek paper waiting for windows / doors and exterior shingles until the spring of 2017. 

  • By the fall of 2017 the exterior of the historic station (windows, doors, shingles, trim) was completed.

Colonel James Barret House, Concord, MA

  • Built in 1705 by Benjamin Barrett, James' father, is was inhabited by Colonel Barrett and members of his family played significant roles in the first battle of the American Revolutionary War

  • The house was purchased by Save Our Heritage who restored the house to it's 1775 appearance. In 2012 it became part of Minute Man National Historical Park.

  • Historic house that was built upon the foundation of Sarah Clayes(who escaped from the Salem Witch Trials) original house 

  • It sat abandoned and neglected for many years, until Town Meeting members voted to create a historic district around the property to help save it

  • The house was finally restored in 2017 with the help of then Attorney General Maura Healey's Abandoned Housing Initiative (now the Neighborhood Renewal Division)

  • The house is now under the protection of Historic New England

  • 1745 historic house with new school buildings built around it.

MCGINLEY MANSION, 582 BLUE HILL AVE, MILTON, MA

  • In progress 40B project in Milton consists of the preservation of the existing historic 1925 built McGinley Mansion and garden as well as the addition of 86 new units.

  • The historic house and gardens will serve as the site amenity space and the focal point of the project.
